CSET is an educational charitable trust funded by City law firms which wish to act collectively for the benefit of the wider legal profession. Details of the trust can be found at CSET History. This collective action takes two forms, the historic one of grants to law faculties and the new one of the CSET Summer School. The relationship between these two activities, especially the resources available to be devoted to each in the longer term, can only be established once the new venture of the CSET Summer School has been operational for at least two years.

The sponsor firms pay an annual subscription based on the number of trainees they employ.
